Leo Daniel Evans

Leo Daniel Evans has always believed that family is life's greatest blessing and responsibility. Above all else, he values the love, unity, and support shared among those closest to him. His wife, Pat, his daughters, Lisa and Leonda, and his grandchildren, J.D. and Lauren, have remained at the center of his life and accomplishments. Whether through his business, community service, or personal example, Leo has worked to create a lasting legacy for his family and future generations. Leo's talents were evident early in life. As a student, he distinguished himself as a male vocal soloist in University Interscholastic League competition. His outstanding performances advanced him to the state competition at Prairie View A&M University, where he received statewide recognition. In addition to his solo performances, Leo was an active member of his school's acclaimed octette and 17-voice choir. Both groups earned district honors and performed throughout East Texas at schools, churches, educational conferences, and community events. His early accomplishments reflected not only his natural musical ability but also his discipline, confidence, and dedication to excellence. After completing his education at Prairie View A&M University, Leo built a successful career as an entrepreneur. In 1973, he founded Evans Engraving and Stamping, Inc. in Dallas, Texas. Through hard work, determination, and perseverance, he developed the company into a respected family business. Leo involved his daughters in the daily operations of the company, teaching them the importance of responsibility, customer service, professionalism, and entrepreneurship. The Evans family's success in working together across generations was later featured in The Dallas Morning News, which highlighted the rewards and challenges of operating a family-owned business. Leo's commitment to serving others extended far beyond his company. He became an influential civic leader through the YMCA and held numerous leadership positions, including service on the Moorland Branch Board of Managers and as Board Chairman, Chairman of Major Gifts, Roundtable Chairman, and North Texas Cluster Chairman. His dedication to strengthening young people, families, and communities ultimately led to his appointment to the National YMCA Mid-America Field Committee. In that position, he helped provide oversight and strategic leadership for hundreds of YMCA organizations throughout the region. Throughout his life, Leo has combined artistic talent, entrepreneurial vision, civic responsibility, and servant leadership. Whether inspiring audiences through music, teaching his daughters through the family business, supporting his grandchildren, or strengthening communities through volunteer service, he has consistently demonstrated integrity, excellence, faith, and compassion. His greatest legacy, however, is found in his devotion to his family. Leo Evans' life stands as an enduring example of how love of family, hard work, faith, and service to others can influence generations and leave a meaningful and lasting legacy.
