Henry Lee Evans

Businessman, Entrepreneur, and Family Elder Henry Lee Evans was born on July 3, 1925, in LaRue, Texas, to Henry Evans and Gertrude Cofer Evans. Affectionately known as "Hank," he was the second born of their eleven children. He accepted Christ at an early age while attending Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Church and received his education in the local public schools. As one of the older children, Hank helped set the pace for the brothers and sisters who followed him. Strong yet gentle, he carried a quiet authority, and his siblings held him in lasting respect. A Life of Enterprise As a young man, Henry moved to Los Angeles, California, where he established himself as a hardworking businessman and entrepreneur. Over the years he successfully owned and operated a service station, an automobile-parts and salvage business, and a trucking company — building each one through long hours, sound judgment, and a willingness to take on work others would not. After retiring and returning to Texas, he moved to Dallas and joined his brothers in the family business as a manager of Evans Engraving. A Devoted Family Man Henry was the father of six children: Patricia, Henry Jr., Carolyn, Charles, David, and Marsha. His family remembered him as a loving husband, devoted father, caring grandfather, and respected elder. He was known for his generosity, wisdom, humor, and deep love for his family — the kind of man who gave freely, spoke plainly, and made everyone around him feel looked after. His Legacy Henry Lee "Hank" Evans passed away on November 21, 2011. His life reflected the Evans family tradition of faith, entrepreneurship, perseverance, and devotion to family. His memory continues through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and the many relatives and friends whose lives he touched.
